Playstation Phone

It's here, or at least, it's almost here. Would-be iPhone 4 users/HTC Mozart/Blackberry Watever users out there. STOP!!! Here's a new sweet gadget to add to your dilemma on which phone to buy. Sony's very own, Playstation Phone!!

I've never been this hyped about a phone since Sony Ericsson K800i and Nokia's N-gage. Though I failed to get both of them, so maybe, just maybe, I might not be so successful in getting one of these. But....none of them has the amazing specs the Playstation Phone does. Boasting the latest Android 3.0 (Gingerbread), a 1Ghz Qualcomm MSM8655, 512mb RAM, 1gb ROM with a screen of around 3.7 inches to 4.1 inches, the Playstation Phone is to die for. With those specs, phone gaming is no longer for surviving boring lectures. Hardcore gamers can actually enjoy REAL games.

Not to mention the presence of tangible buttons and shoulder buttons means no more rubbing your thumbs on a touch screen. Not to mention, the presence of two touch-pad analogs. Yup, that's the thing between the two controls groups. These means, no more peeling your skin when playing God of War...yippee.... I still have the pain of playing God of War: Ghost of Sparta from two days ago. Man, the PSP does rub off your thumb's skin doesnt it.

Other than that, the PS Phone will also have a custom Sony Marketplace which allows you to buy and download games for the phone. The phone also uses SD card instead of the Sony Memory Stick, and the UMD drive is also missing. These raises some concern for me. It might mean that Playstation Phone does not support PSP games, and might need sometime to build it's library of games, which might mean not at all. We shall see in the future.

If, and I repeat IF, the PS Phone is able to support PSP games (and thus by extension PS1 games), add on to that the GBA emulator available for Android, as well as the Homebrew app DSonPSP, I'm quite sure the NDS might very well be on its way out of the market. 3DS as well, Nintendo might take some action on the GBA emulators soon...

I am so *fingercrossed* gonna buy this phone. That aside, some people have claimed that the PS Phone is just a hoax, but Engadget assures us it's real. And you know what? I choose to believe the latter. There are also people claiming that the PS Phone might very will be the much rumored PSP2, though judging by the specs of PS Phone compared to the speculated specs of PSP2, I rather hope not.

Speaking of PSP2's speculated specs. 2 analog sticks, bigger and HD screen, 1GB RAM, supposedly able to rival Xbox360 in power. It's like how 3DS is almost as powerful as Wii. And please don't forget, touch controls. Again, I am worried about backward compatibility. But PSP2 might not ever come out...so...meh....
