Countdown to Duodecim 5: Gilgamesh and more!

Ladies and gentlemen, in two weeks time, we will be enjoying ourselves crazy with Duodecim, albeit it is in Japanese. I'm sure most of you would get it anyway. Joining the "officially announced" characters, is Gilgamesh, the cult icon that appeared in most Final Fantasies since FF5. However, this will be his FF5 incarnation as well as some allusions to his later appearances. He will be the first NEW and hopefully not the last Warrior of Chaos to join the battle in Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy. Although Desperado Chaos is most likely a playable character, I wouldn't count him as a proper Warrior of Chaos. Sure hope there are some new Chaos Warriors, like Barthandelus or Eald'narche, although Prishe confirmation (coupled with developers considering Eald'narche and his brother before choosing Prishe) seems to deny Eald'narche a place in Duodecim.

Back to Gilgamesh, like Prishe's scan a few weeks ago, Gilgamesh's scan shows frustratingly little information. We see him talking with Bartz, and we see him performing an Ex Burst. So information I am about to disclose are most likely not from the scan. Well, actually, I don't know THAT much, because I've been out of the information flow for a week now. Final exams on Saturday and Monday. Be glad I'm even writing this. I thought of taking a break, but decided against it.

Gilgamesh's Ex Mode seems to be him transforming into his 8 armed form, and equipping 8 weapons, namely Excalibur, Excalipoor, Naginata, Masamune, Genji Katana, Zantetsuken, Battle Axe and Chicken Knife. For his, Ex Burst, he seems to be equipping one of these 8 weapons, whether random or by some requirement, it is unknown. The pictures that are shown so far seems to show Gilgamesh using the Excalibur for his Ex Burst. Each of this weapon has its own specialty, for example, Excalibur doubles his damage while Excalipoor reduces all of them to one.

Gilgamesh's fighting style is Scramble Fighter, where he randomly uses one weapon to attack. It is assumed that you wouldn't know which weapon he will use as he himself does not know. Hopefully this will only apply to Bravery attacks, as I just can't see it happening with HP attacks. Imagining hoping to deal 1000 damage with a HP attack, boom, Excalipoor. Boo, you only dealt 1 damage. Sucks. We will have to wait for next week's famitsu for more information, as usual.

Not sure whether the summon Gilgamesh will be returning or not. Pretty weird. Gilgamesh using Gilgamesh, or really, Bartz using Gilgamesh against Gilgamesh. Speaking of summons, the only confirmed addition so far seems to be Brynhildr. I wonder if Hecatoncheir will join?

Enough of Gilgamesh, lets talk about the latest Japanese Dissidia Box Art. This seems to be the final, confirmed version, since the previous Box Art has been dethroned. Prishe is still missing, making us wonder if she is indeed a secret character, and possibly the "Warrior of Cosmos who is often heard of but never seen". This version of the Box Art seems to be, in my opinion, lacking compared to the information-packed former Box Art. Although the front cover doesn't surprise me. I think it keeps in tradition with the Final Fantasy games.

Here it is, the Alternate form of Prishe, a recolor of the default. The third, thus far, unrevealed costume is sad to be daring, but don't take Square Enix's word on it. They said Garland's second alternate was gonna be really good or something along that line of thought, can't remember the exact words, but yeah, it turned out meh...

Squall's alter ego Leon of Kingdom Heart's 2 will be joining the cast as Squall's DLC alternate. Well, technically Squall is Leon and Leon is Squall, but... whatever... It is available through the Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy Legacy Edition, alongside Tifa's DLC alternate as well as an artbook and mini-OST. Seems like the way to go if you are going to buy an English version of Dissidia, although you'll have to wait until 25 March, as the Legacy Edition is for Europe. It certainly trumps the US Editions. Pre-ordering from Gamestop gets you Cloud's DLC alternate, and pre-ordering from Amazon get you Tifa's DLC alternate. I would suggest you get the Legacy Edition plus Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix for KH Cloud. But it is your call.

Tune in again next week as we countdown one more week to Duodecim's Japan release.
