Countdown to Duodecim 4: Box Art, OST and Stuff

Hey, one and all, it's around three weeks until Dissidia 012 [Duodecim]: Final Fantasy is released. The hype is pretty much building up, with Box Art, OSTs and Stuff being revealed along the way. There is at least one playable character who has not been officially revealed, and up to three characters who will possible be revealed, namely Gilgamesh, Desperado Chaos and the mysterious Moogle/FFXIII Cosmos Warrior. I can't wait, I can't wait, I want it NOW!

The Box Art for the North American release has been revealed, as shown above. The Box Art has the Cosmos Warriors at the top half, with the bottom half covered with Chaos Warriors. It is basically a rearrangement of the OST cover that was revealed a while back. The OST box art will also have a Chaos Warrior cover, which is interchangeable with the Cosmos Warrior cover, like the original Dissidia. Prishe and Gilgamesh are mysteriously absent, which has spark the rumors that they will play a similar role as Shantotto and Gabranth did in the first Dissidia - Secret Characters.

The Box Arts (NA Release and OST) pretty much confirms the allegiance switch of Jecht, Terra, Cloud and Tidus, and silence the voices of the doubters. Two thing is still left to be confirmed - whether their portraits would switch their direction and whether their logos will be with black backgrounds. Although Cloud and Jecht's logos and portraits in Prologus would suggest otherwise. Confirm or otherwise, it has left me pretty much confounded. Jecht and Terra was pretty much hinted in the first Dissidia. But Cloud and Tidus? Okay, Cloud I get, a bit. He was after all, for a time, controlled by Sephiroth in FFVII. And Tidus? The only thing going for him is the confirmed brain wash. Which is a pretty stupid reason. Jecht, Terra and Cloud are pretty much confirmed to switch allegiance AGAIN in the course of the game. Jecht gets captured by the Emperor. Terra and Vaan thing and Cloud stopping Sephiroth from fighting Tifa. No news on Tidus though.

The new music addition to Duodecim has been revealed. With a total of 37 tracks, I'll be darned to list them all, so take a look here. So at a glance. "Theme of Love", yes! But I'm wondering how this will play in battle. Will probably suit a battle between Tifa and Cloud or Tidus and Yuna or Warrior of Light and Cosmos. Here's hoping Cosmos will be at the very least fightable. "Tifa's Theme", a BIG YES! I hope it will be a piano arrangement. "You're Not Alone", excuse me, tears of joy is forming in my eyes. But "A Place to Call Home"...erm? I wonder whether all of this tracks are going to be available for battle, or is some of them is just in the game, like in cutscenes. The OST will be release a day earlier than the game on 2 March.

Famitsu has also revealed quite a healthy amount of information on Prishe after last week's disappointing Jump. Her Ex Mode is the Two-Hour Ability and her Ex Burst will be Shining Five. Her Ex Mode gives her the ability of Hundred Fists which allows her to chain up to three skills in a combo. She also appears to be playing a role similar to Shantotto in the first Dissidia, she is also seen giving the Warrior of Light some advice.

Pictures of her first alternate are shown, and third form is said to be daring. Konata/Haruhi daring or Half-Nude teenage rating daring? That said, many fans are hoping for a Konata or Haruhi outfit for Prishe, since she is voiced by Aya Hirano, who also voiced the two of them. If Lightning can be Aya because of her voice actor, I can't see why not. Except that the characters belong to different companies. Also, apparently prior to choosing Prishe, the staff considered Eald'narche and Kam'lanaut to be added as Chaos representative. I wished that they had chosen one of them, since Chaos Warriors are few in numbers.

Aside form Prishe, some pictures on the World Map and the new Chessboard system is also shown.

Players will be roaming the World Map freely most of the time, but when they enter a dungeon, they will be brought to the Chessboard system. The Chessboard system also see an upgrade. Player avatars are no longer just Chess pieces, but instead actual moving models.

That's all for this week's Countdown to Duodecim. We will meet when we meet again!
